Well, I like to walk around in this city, so when Felipe says “tell us about a place of your interest”, a lot of places came to my mind. Talking with Mauricio a Carolina I chose to write about barrio Yungai but after a while I decided to write about barrio Paris–Londres. Where is this place located? It is behind the San Francisco Hotel. You can take the street between the hotel and San Francisco’s church. Why I like this place? Well, basically because the buildings are gorgeous as if you really were in other place. Some remarkable places of the street, mmm let me think, there is a place, the number is Londres 38, you’ll find an ex-reclusion place of political prisoners (actually if you look to the floor you’ll see the names of the people who were there), a couple of buildings after, you may see the PS and PRSD (partido radical) headquarters. But not all is politics; there are also a lot of institutes and hostels (the tourists really likes this place) some coffee bars, not particularly good, but before finishing with this description. There is a place that I really want to recommend: dear reader, there is a particularly good bakery hiding in the middle of Santiago. How to get there?... well, walk by Paris street, cross San Francisco Ave and one house before Santa Rosa Ave you’ll find out about the place I’m talking about. It is a really small one, not too expensive, but really good.
How to get to this neighborhood? Well, you can take the subway to Universidad de Chile station and take the north side stairs. Walk to the San Francisco church and that’s it. Actually is the same route if you try to use the bus. By car I think it is not a good idea: remember this is in the middle of the downtown area (why we didn’t go to this place in the city tour, if we were at one block of distance? (Don’t answer me, I already know the answer).
